We have been registered with Powerway.com since the required deadline set by DC. Since this time we have had 5 part numbers listed in the system for potential "new" parts. I have discovered within the past two months that none of the part numbers in the system are on an active status for DC. Two of them were for a "new model" and that was terminated. Two others they state that we are not going to be the supplier for the part and the last no one seems to know of it and doesn't seem to exist.
I am not sure why our company has to dish out $6000.00 to support a system that is non-functional.
It sounds like Powerway is being mismanaged by your SQA. (Now there's a shocker)
Parts shouldn't be issued until they have been officially sourced, then the SQA has to enter the project from thier end. Once that's done your or someone from your company has to create a part # to match up with the # from the SQA. Once this is done the project is officially opened.
If your lucky your SQA will merge projects...for example we supply 4 parts that go in the door so we have a Front Left, Front Right, Rear Left, Rear Right. In all cases the Fronts are mirror images of each other so our SQA has merged them into Front LH/RH so we don't have to duplicate the uploads.
I agree the $6000 is a steep price for managing the system but we use it pretty extensively for the WK, HB and ND programs.
On a related topic we did get the general letter from GM stating we had to sign up which we already are since we signed on with D/C. However I have yet to be contacted my a GM SQE regarding using powerway for any new projects. I'm not sure what thier policy is, maybe thier not going to use it on anything till the 2005 MY.
