Clause 8.5.5 and Clause 8.6: which one should be coming first? (ISO 9001:2015)

Dear all,

In ISO 9001:2015, we have post-delivery activities (clause 8.5.5) stand front of release of product and services (clause 8.6). It looks like not logical. For me, any products have to be approved before transfer to the customer, so clause 8.5.5 should be followed after 8.6.

Anyone have same idea? or I don't understand much how they do that. Please comment!

thank you all,
Hieu

8.5 being Production and service, 8.6 being release of Products and Services...it makes sense to me.

Sure, some of your service may occur after release of the product...but don't lose sight of the fact that 8.5.5 is simply a subsection/expounding of 8.5.

Your release of product may come before the "creation of" or "release" of post-delivery services...so be it. It does not change the coverage nor the intent...
Don't get bogged down in the details...

1/ what is the problem if 8.6 release of products and services is belong to 8.6 products and services provision?
2/ is it better if we have:
8.5.4 preservation
8.5.5 release of products and services
8.5.6 post-delivery activities
8.5.7 control of changes
?:notme:

This way is also possible. But 8.5.5 asks to determine the post delivery activities applicable / what the organization chooses.
Eg. An organization manufactures and supplier gym equipment's as loose parts (in dissembled condition) and assembles it after its delivery to customer. In this case, this organization has determined that it will do assembling at customer end and will only deliver loose parts.
Hence after determining this, it will only inspect loose parts as per 8.4 i.e. release of products.

The intent of 8.5.5 seems to be determining the post delivery activities. And accordingly we'll be able to determine what needs to be checked during 8.6 i.e. release of products / services.
