yeah, sc wins, whoopee.....BUT they still have cal Cal and Oregon to go.....

Now, teams that can play in other conferences?

Cal, Oregon, Hawaii, South Florida.....at least this year.....can play in ANY conference.....so not limited to to the wimpy Pac-10.....or to the WAC.....or even the Big East.....

Alabama wins, South Carolina wins.....

National Championship.....perhaps a South Carolina/South Florida.....a South Florida/Hawaii.....Alabama/Cal.....any other thoughts?

None taken, but when GA and FLA play, the standings and the rankings go out of the window. That game has produced some thrills and some, um, whatever the negative of thrills are, over the years. (Lindsey Scott, Lindsey Scott!! from the 80s, for one).

For those not familiar with the annual matchup played in "neutral" (yeah, right) Jacksonville FLORIDA, the game has been known as "the world's largest cocktail party" for as long as I can remember, even thought the powers that be have downplayed that for the last few meetings.

Actually, the Jax press calls it the "World's Biggest Tailgate Party".....even though I lived in Jax for 10 years before going to CA.....I can neither confirm nor deny any indulgence.....

And BTW, there is a HECK (PC term) of a reason it has that name.....

And Craig, you are right.....FL/GA.....FL/FL State.....are both just like Alabama/Auburn (aka Iron Bowl).....rankings and W/L records are completely and totally IRRELEVANT.....

For those in other conferences.....(OK, Big 10 understands).....the Iron Bowl is actually considered a bowl game in the State of Alabama.....and I have seen Alabama walk in 10-0 and Auburn pretty close to 0-10.....Auburn wins, Auburn has a winning season because they beat Alabam, and then of course Alabama has a losing season because they lost to Auburn.....that is the nature of SEC Football.....

The Big 10 does have that, but I think to a much lower level.....I know Icy will correct me there........

For those of us who are lifelong SEC fanatics.....even WE did not see this coming for certain.....but the SEC is the SEC.........

Understand, for any in other conferences, or in other countries.....we invite you to get to appreciate SEC Football as we do.....Howard Cosell said it best, referring to Alabama.....

"In Alabama, Football is a religion, and Bear Bryant is its Leader."

Appy State hasn't finalized their 2008 schedule yet. You can bet they are looking for another giant to slay (along with another giant payday).

In my cooler, of course. Where it can be properly insulted by Buckeye fan passerby. Just kidding, Gatorade is properly stored in a septic tank.

Oh, absolutely. Any season where the Buckeyes lose to Michigan is considered a losing season to Buckeyes fans. Consider Coach John Cooper's record. He had a 111-43-4 record (.707 win %), shared the Big 10 Title 3 years out of 13, ended up ranked in the top 25 for 11 of 13 seasons and went to 11 bowl games. Unfortunately, a 2-10-1 record against Michigan, assisted by a 4-7 bowl record, led to his coaching demise. In fact, in Columbus, Ohio, the last game of every Ohio State football regular season is against Michigan and is referred to as simply "The Game".

Afterward, the Bulldogs celebrated on Vanderbilt's logo in the center of the field. Richt apologized to Commodores coach Bobby Johnson afterward and admonished his players in the locker room to refrain from those sort of displays in the future.

"I don't think that's the right thing to do at the end of a ballgame," Richt said. "Should we have been celebrating? Absolutely. But not in a way that incites people's emotions like that."

He also disputed reports that said had him getting into an argument with Johnson after the game.

"There was nothing like that at all," Richt said. "I just said, 'Coach, I'm sorry my guys did that.' He said, 'Coach, don't worry about it.'"

Coach Richt made the ESPN SportsCenter highlights, out on the 50-yard line admonishing his players and kicking them off of Vandy's logo.

Thanks. I am very happy that we have a coach who would put a stop to such nonsense, and the fact he apologized immediately. I'm proud to be a Bulldog, even though the season is not going as well as hoped.

I do imagine that there are going to be some very tired GA players this evening. I wonder if it will be laps or wind sprints.

Vandy has been a long-time whipping boy for the rest of the SEC. It appears that is coming to an end. Good for them.

It's all going to get interesting if the undefeated teams keep winning. Arizona State would probably get a #1 computer ranking if they win out their remaining schedule, with Cal, Oregon, and USC, it's way tougher than any other. They'd probably get the coaches #1 if they can pull that off.
