It took me this long to recover from the loss. At least it was not a humiliating stomp like last year. Turning point: With the score 10-10, Robiskie dropped pass for touchdown followed by blocked FG resulting in LSU possession on their own 34 with 11 minutes left in the first half. Instead of 17-10 OSU, 3 1/2 minutes later it was 17-10 LSU. Game over. You could see the momentum change and the wind go out of the Buckeyes sails. From the point of the blocked FG, LSU scored two TDs while the Bucks threw an interception and punted. Like I said, game over.
To seal the defeat, on LSU's first drive of the 2nd half they turned 4th & 23 on the LSU 40 into 1st & 10 on the OSU 29 due to stupid mistakes resulting in penalties, resulting in 31-10 LSU 5 minutes into the half. This game wasn't won by that renowned SEC speed, it was lost by poor execution and mistakes by OSU. This wasn't the team that beat Michigan; it was the team that lost to Illinois.
Had OSU been able to score on either of their possessions after the interception and score to make it 31-17 in the 3rd quarter, they might have been able to climb back into the game. As it was, I don't think they ever recovered from the blowing the chance to stop LSU and swing the momentum back early in the 3rd quarter.
I'll give LSU credit: they showed up to play. Unfortunately, for the second year in a row, the Ohio State team that showed up did not play like they really wanted to win a National Championship.
