Holy smokes, once again we have Big10/SEC agreement.
Nothing pleased me more than seeing Byrum knock that ball through the uprights. TWICE! I think that little timeout tactic is poor sportsmanship and should be ignored by the officials. Calling timeout when the kicking team is walking to the line or getting set, in order to "ice" the kicker is a longstanding tradition. Holding the officials hand in order to call timeout in such a way that the kick is still attempted is low tactics in my book. I know Urban is just copycatting a technique he learned from seeing it done by other NCAA coaches but that doesn't make it right. Before any SEC fans cry foul, I would openly deride Jim Tressel, Joe Tiller or even Joe Paterno if they won a game that way. That's not the way I want to see "my" teams win. I can live with crushing victory, like going for 4th and short when it's already 35-0 or 42-0 (Jim Tressel, OSU-Northwestern, 2007) or going for two after the touchdown when they're already winning 48-14 (Woody Hayes, OSU-Michigan, 1968). I feel better about it if we're playing 2nd and 3rd string kids and I wouldn't want to see it against a 1-AA team but when you're playing conference: show up! Dirty tricks and cheap shots are another matter entirely.
It's probably that gators are swamp-living reptiles that causes your "thing" about them.

PS - I re-read your earlier post as I seem to have gotten the first meaning backwards. I would have fallen over laughing if Byrum had missed the first kick as Urban called timeout, followed by Byrum making the second attempt to win the game. OH MY, that would have been
great.
