And Georgia. That would be sweet. Woof woof.
Forgot them.....no offense intended.....but if they win against the Gators and Florida beats SC.....that throws a wrench in the works, since SC beat Georgia.....

Either way, I intend to be in Vegas for the Iron Bowl, and wearing my Houndstooth hat.....once I have a definite spot to watch, anyone who will be in the area is welcome to come over and watch with my son and me.....you have to buy your own beer if we are at the ESPN Zone though.....

None taken, but when GA and FLA play, the standings and the rankings go out of the window. That game has produced some thrills and some, um, whatever the negative of thrills are, over the years. (Lindsey Scott, Lindsey Scott!! from the 80s, for one).

For those not familiar with the annual matchup played in "neutral" (yeah, right) Jacksonville FLORIDA, the game has been known as "the world's largest cocktail party" for as long as I can remember, even thought the powers that be have downplayed that for the last few meetings.

I like Spurrier and see nothing wrong with what he did, he was within the rules so what is the issue?
Aaron, my bad, it was Urban "Legend in his own mind" Meyer that pulled that stunt. I get the SEC coaches I don't like mixed up 'cause there's so many. Anyway, whether it's within the rules or not, holding the ref's hand and making a kid kick twice to win a game is a classless act, whether it's Urban, Mike Shanahan, or Lane Kiffin. The football gods will not be kind. Loss to Auburn (on the 1st and 2nd kick) and LSU entered into evidence.

Craig, they're called chills. I promise that I will refrain from obnoxiousness if only the Buckeyes get another chance at the SEC, LSU this time. BTW, I went to the Purdue-Ohio State game in my Boiler gear (hey, it's my alma mater) and I can objectively say that Buckeye fans have a well-deserved reputation for being extremely obnoxious to the opposing team's fans, fans' children, marching band, mascot, dogs, coolers, etc.

I still don't see anything wrong with it, do you think it is wrong because he was trying to freeze a kid?

As I said before, calling timeout as the team walks up and gets into their set is a long-standing football tradition. It's called "Icing the Kicker" and I don't have a problem with that. Make him wander around and think about it. What bothers me is when they hold the referees' hand and wait until the snap count starts so that the kick is actually made. I just think that pushes outside the bounds of good sportsmanship. As Craig mentioned, I wait for the day that some coach does this and the kick misses, followed by the kid making it on the second try and winning the game.

I wouldn't want to see any of my teams win a game this way.

Anything to gain and edge, it is within the rules at this time. Remember these coaches will do anything for a win and to save their jobs.

Now, if they were taping the opposing teams coaches and stealing the signals that's another story. :lmao:

As long as USC lost last weekend all is good, now I see USC may have to forfeit the NC they won with Bush if they find he received illegal funds while at USC.

Being legal is not the same thing as being right.

How would you feel if one of your favorite players was injured on just that type of nullified play?

As far as saving their jobs is concerned, I would like to think that the old fashioned view of the football coach as a moral leader is still valid. All other things being equal, if a coach's job is in question, how likely is it that the one who pulls stunts like this will stay?

And, BTW, I am a fan of the fake field goals, fake punts, flea flickers, guard elgibles, quick kicks, Statue of Liberty, and missed-direction plays. Those are legal, fun to watch, and completely ethical, IMO.

On this topic I stand by my previous statements.

I like Spurrier and see nothing wrong with what he did, he was within the rules so what is the issue? I am a huge NC fan and I think in a couple years they will be pretty good. Yates looks pretty good with the exception of the USF game. I think they are playing a total of 23 freshman 12 redshirt and 11 true. I just hope Davis dosen't pull a Mack Brown and leave after he gets the program up and running.
I thought you were a Rutgers fan? I don't care much for UNC. Those powder blue unis reminds me of ballet dancers running all around. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

It is a business, I still say as long as it is within the rules it is fair game. Just my opinion.

I cannot imagine Jim Tressel using this tactic. I would expect someone coaching this way to end up with a program and bunch of players with legal and ethical problems. Anything to win, right?

Me, too. That's kids playing football, not coaches manipulating the rules.

It's definitely a business. Appalachian State got a $400k payday just for showing up at Michigan (beating a ranked team in the Big Ten, priceless). I've watched some leaders implode companies because they had just this attitude. Misrepresenting failure modes and failure rates isn't illegal, right?
