Combining Documents and Records in one sheet

Hi, I have a concern, I would like to request clarification regarding our current documentation for final outgoing inspection. At present, we maintain two separate documents:
  1. Inspection Standard – containing the inspection criteria and methods.
  2. Inspection Sheet – used to record the actual inspection data.
Since both documents contain the same criteria and any change requires revision of both, I would like to explore the possibility of consolidating them into a single, controlled inspection sheet that contains both the inspection criteria/method and the fields for recording results.

My main question is:
  • Would combining these into one document still meet the requirements of IATF 16949 and any applicable customer-specific requirements?
The goal is to reduce duplication while ensuring compliance with documentation and record control standards. I would appreciate your input and guidance before proceeding.

I’m not sure what IATF16949 says but I don’t see any logical reason why you couldn’t do this. If done well.

I think you would be fine. Control the blank sheet via document control in your system and then once filled out it becomes a record, to be filed somewhere.
