Combining Validation Protocol & Report into 1 template

We currently have both protocol & report under 1 template.
I've tried to separate out the pagination for just the protocol and restart numbering for the report, however, it's proven to be very cumbersome and doesn't work well.
I'd much prefer to separate them into 2 separate templates, however, my manager likes them combined.
Does anyone have their templates combined and does it work? Would you be willing to share a template if so?
Thanks so much for your time.

Yes, a combined template can work as long as the report follows all document control requirements (approval, identification, etc.). As for the pagination, you can have the template show the hard coded pagination at the top and then at the bottom you can have "Page ___ of ___" to be filled out when the report is complete.

I like that idea! Thank you!

It is possible to restart your page numbering in Word. I've never really played with it but I just confirmed that I could insert a Continuous section break, then go to the first page after the break, right click on the page number and select Format Page Numbers. The dialog box that pops up gives you the option for the number to either "continue from previous section" or start at whatever number you indicate. Of course, if your numbering is like "1 of 12", then the 12 is going to stay regardless of restarting the page number itself. You can't change the total number of pages.

Thanks for responding. I tried that and ran into the issue when increasing the size of the protocol or report. It created other issues with formatting the pagination. That's why I'm looking for an alternative method for pagination.
