I received a fax today from Georgia Tech. They are offering a 1 day workshop on Continual Improvement for the sum of $295. I was thinking of maybe going. Before making my decision, I was wondering if anyone has been to a similar workshop and what was there thoughts on it....Did you learn a great deal....Was it benificial? I hate to spend the companies money if I am not going to learn anything from it.

Thoughts guys and gals??? :bigwave:

Hi Jamie...

Tough question. I looked over the North Avenue Trade School (GA Tech) flier for their workshops. Seems to me that they are pretty much the standard fare that most colleges offer.

Personally, I think it is like a great many things - it's worth what you put into it. If you ask a lot of questions, really put the instructor through his/her paces and get some good dynamic communication going - it could be pretty interesting.

My humble opinion... If you are new to continual improvement - it sure can't hurt. Personally, it sounds fun. I'd go just to see what they were saying... but I'm also a trouble maker and like to ask a lot of hard question... :p :D :ko:

Hope this helps!!!

Cheers!

Michael,

I have decided to attend the workshop and am looking forward to it. In the process of registering for this one, I received an e-mail from Georgia Tech. They offer "free" User Network Meetings periodically. I've attended several in the past. They have one coming up on "Impact of ISO 9001:2000 on Management". When requesting that myself and one particular other person attend my boss (the VP) responded by saying we could but SHE WANTED TO GO AS WELL!! Blow me out of the water! She said if you guys are going to be telling me what has to be done and what I need to do then I want to go so I'll have a better understanding! I thought this was a GREAT start toward Mangement Committment.

Very cool!

Congratulations!!! That's the first step. I wish I could get more of my senior management to think that way. :frust:

One of the local colleges here has Network Meetings on a variety of topics on a monthly basis - ISO, Tools & Methods, etc. They are very informative and are a great place to bounce around ideas before you implement them.

Have fun!!!
