Master lists

In our company the current revision of tool drawings is being identified using a master list.Every week there will be atleast two or three drawings that are either added newly in the list or where revision is done.So every week we have to change this master list atleast twice or thrice. This is really cumbersome as this list is distributed to two locations.
can anyone suggest a simpler method by which the current revision of these drawings can be identified?

Can the list be "distributed" only via computer? Update it in the computer database or file and have the users view it via network on the computer so the revisions are "distributed" immediately.

Also, you could have a paper master file of controlled drawings and whenever the user needs a drawing he/she goes to the master file for the drawing. The master file would always have the most recent revision.

Just a few ideas.

Ouch... Yes, that sounds cumbersome.

Right :agree1: That's the way to go if your network is up to it. A further step down the same route would be to distribute the drawings via computer.

We've been there before, it's true its really hard to maintain and time consuming, Mike is right, if you have a local network you could allocate a folder for Master list, where the user could verify the current revision of your drawings(just have it protected) so they couldn't change it.

Yeah Claes, we are into that project now since most of our documents has soft copies and there are available computers in strategic locations, we took advantage of it. We're starting to distribute documents on line.

I´ld like to know why you send this list to other locations.

Sorry if I didn´t understand :bonk: but if your drawing has a date or a number of the revision, the current revision is identified, isn´t it?
