Hello Student, and welcome to the Cove

As Marc already said we may need to know a bit more about what information you want. In the mean time I'll say that companies solve this in different ways much depending on the type of product.

It could boil down to a very simple process where you scrap everything not acc to spec, regardless of where and when the problem is detected. On the other hand it could also be pretty complicated, with different courses of action depending on the nature and/or degree of the error.

The severity is an important factor when action is to be decided. A problem may cause:

• malfunction
• shorter product life
• aestetic problems (The product looks bad but will otherwise function)
• problems with legislation (It may simply become illegal)
• no problems at all (Not as unusual as it would seem)
