Control of outsourced processes - drop shipped products

Q

Quality Business

Hello I am a ISO consultant. One of my customers had a major non conformance on their transition audit for (from 9008 to 2015)this (then called me for help). They are a distributor. They sometimes have products delivered directly from their supplier to their customer. I have not come across this before. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Many thanks.

Looks like a drop shipment operation, what we have discussed here, many times in the past. If you really want help, you need to state exactly how the nonconformity is phrased and what requirement the auditor alleges is not in compliance. It would help to know what type of product we are talking about and what kind of evidence of product conformity is provided by the supplier.

The main point is:
How to ensure the product is ok, before arrives clients?
There may be several options:
1- Yo could go and inspect in the suppliers´s offices that product is ok, before is shipped to client
2- You could go to the client´s offices and check product shipped and before is delivered to client.

In case this a normal practice, also enter in the game the transportation company, how to control this supplier, so that products is not damaged during transportation.

Hope this helps.

Control does not require inspection. It may also include how a supplier is qualified, might include audits of the supplier's QMS or many other options. Inspection is just one of many possibilities.
