Control Plan and Audit Registration - PPAP - Packing Instructions

Hello everybody,

I have a simple question that it might be very obvious but still...

I have PPAP level 3 approval for almost 2 years in one of my programs.. When I submitted my PPAP in the last part or check for my control plan (shipping), I went too fancy and I added the quantity per bin or boxes we're supposed to ship.
After some time my final packing instructions change from 20 pieces per box to 18 pcs per box (changed boxes style). I never changed my control plan but my packing instructions reflect the new quantity.

I have an audit next week and I would like to know if there is a specific note on the AIAG that my control plan MUST reflect my packing instructions. Is there anything that can protect me for an NCR with my actual process?

Thank you

The control plan MUST reflect what you are doing.
You must update it to show the change.
What I would ask is what else has not been updated?

Control plan checklist available in the AIAG APQP Manual explicitly mentions Packaging Process. Of course AIAG's, per se, is not auditable. But assuming that you are aspiring to ISO/TS 16949 (since you mention AIAG), you may end up with a non conformance per 7.5.1.1, according to which the Control plan shall be updated when any change occurs to Manufacturing Process (even though I guess the chances are slimmer).

Nevertheless, my question to you is - what is stopping you from identifying or updating packaging process in the Control plan?

you still have one week left for the audit.Quickly revise your Control Plan.
Even if you donot do, it is a minor NC.

Thank you guys... I believed I do have to change the control plan... The problem is that I have so many programs that I need to revise. Thank you anyway for the lesson.

Can you make the control plan more general? You could refer to the packing instructions for the specific box quanties. That way you reduce the number of documents you update -- only the packing instructions in this case. Good luck.
