Converting Manufacturing Drawings from a Contract Supplier

Q

QAMed26

We are a small medical device company and so currently we don't create our own manufacturing drawings. We use an external company to create those for us, from our own design specs. However when they send them to us, they have their company logo and information on them. Investing in the Solid Works software isn't viable for the couple of drawings we may need. Does anyone know of a solution that could help us convert those drawings to be our own?

Re: Manufacturing Drawings

if they are providing the service to you, ask them to remove their logo and follow your requirements? if they refuse, take your business elsewhere?

Re: Manufacturing Drawings

I honestly did not know that it would be an option.

This sounds more of a legal dilemma. You hired them to create the drawings, however you are the actual authority based upon your organization's design specifications.

I would talk to an Attorney and see how they would interpret it.

Just my opinion

This sounds a little heavy handed to me.... First stage would be to ask nicely via the normal day to day channels. They probably have a standard template that they use unless requested otherwise.

Another option would be to convert the drawings to PDF (or ask your supplier to provide PDF copies) and then just delete whatever you don't want there / insert your own.

For 100 Us Dls or less, you can get light cad software, with a little training you can draw your designs,or edit them if you prefer,if want to continue with your provider, ask them to send drawings to you in dwg,dxf or iges format.

Cover over the logo (with plain paper or your own logo) - photo-copier - job done!

Unless there is something in your contract with your contract drawing office that stipulates that their logo is always shown.
