For those not deep involved in automotive, could you list exactly those seven tools ? As far you and others, have indentified 6.
APQP,CP,PPAP,FMEA,MSA,SPC
While I can not provide you with one presentation dealing with each, I maybe able to help, with one on each, then you can put together a shorter one, of those.
Will this help you ? Which one is the 7th, if the above list is correct ?
In my opinion these are not any more "automotive" specific.

The seven pack includes as the 7th item for QS9000 apart from the standard itself the QSA checklist which is as dead as the dodo
In ISO/TS 16949 7 Pack (according to AIAG)
This set includes the latest editions of the ISO/TS16949:2002, TS Rules, Second Edition, and the
recommended production supplier manuals commonized by DaimlerChrysler, Ford Motor Company, and General Motors: 1) APQP, 2)PPAP, 3)FMEA, 4)MSA and 5)SPC.
CP is part of the APQP book but could be regarded as a tool in itself, but then I would claim that PPAP is not a tool rather a method of reporting

APQP, if executed, delivers the PPAP deliverables. PFMEA and Control Plans are PPAP final deliverables when submitting for approval to the customer. What is missing is the Process Flow Diagram (PFD) from the list. I would think the PFD precedes the PFMEA. The Control Plan is countermeasure and daily control from the PFD and PFMEA. The DFMEA (not listed) is key to identifying significant and critical characteristics which will require special controls in the mfg. process.

And, of course, the APQP to PPAP process is not linear. There are multiple feedback loops or iterations as the program or product development proceeds.

True - A lot of people refer to the APQP process as the PPAP process. But PPAP is the bringing together of different documents, etc., completing the wrrant and submitting the package. This is pointed out in The APQP Process.

agree, i think the proper definition (to summarize) is:

7-Pack = QS-9000 Requirements, FMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC & QSA

Core Tools = FMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA & SPC

SPC should be Statistical Techniques, I think, but there is no specific manual to address all the potential statistical techniques. Note that statistical techniques is NOT limited to manufacturing.

It should be but in the present time it is still divided into two fields SPC and MSA in the traditional auto world

Whilst PFMEA and CP as well as PFD are "deliverables" they are far more than that. They are tools for improving and controlling processes. PPAP is just a library of documents which has no value in itself.
