CQE sample exam - Question 23 about a regression model

I got this wrong, and I don't have a clue on how it should be tackled.

23. Which of the following statements is true about a regression model with
b0 = -300, b1 = 0.00 and n = 5?

(a) No relationship exists between x and y.
(b) x and y are positively correlated.
(c) x and y are negatively correlated.
(d) the standard error of the estimate is high.

The correct answer is (a). I have no idea why. Can someone help?

Re: CQE sample exam - question 23

In equation form this is y = -300 + 0x. Simplified, it is y = -300 regardless of the value of x. This means there is no relationship between x and y.

Re: CQE sample exam - question 23

So I get first prize for missing the bleeding obvious.

I've been looking for a way to calculate r, which is, of course, not possible and irrelevant.

:thanks:

Re: CQE sample exam - question 23

Remember Y= B0 + B1X
B1 if the slope.
You said B1 = 0 so for any X, Y=B0
If the slope is zero, there is no corelation, not positive, not negative.
Answer d seems like a red herring.
Does that help?
