Re: Criteria to define QMS processes in ISO TS

Hi Jennifer, thanks for replying.
Only one question:
what could be the processes that ISO TS standard considers to have at minimum? Could you please provide a list?:thanx:
I am sorry for the delay in answering.

A previous thread called ISO/TS 16949:2009 Required Processes and Documented Procedure Requirements covered required processes as per TS 16949. You can also see Which are the 7 mandatory procedures for TS 16949 which does have links to other threads as well.

The processes must be internally defined, listing your organization's activities, requirements, responsibilities and controls. I think I was asked if a process can point to the standard. I see no purpose in doing so.

Does this help?

Thks Jennifer,
It helps.
My question is also if the word "process" in the standard can addres the organization to have it. For example, training seems not to be a process even though it is required a documented procedures for ISO TS, the same thing for corrective and preventive actions or internal audit or control of non conforming product. On the other hand, change mgmt shall be because it is clearly reported in ISO TS standards being mentioned the word "process".

Thks again and if you want , pls respond to the poll.:thanks:

I checked the two links but they are not working . Are there any problems?

There needs to be a training process - it is not negotiable and pointing to the standard will not suffice. The standard does describe the minimum of what is expected, but your process would say who does what in identifying needed skills and education for the various jobs in your organization, how you go about getting those needs met and how you control it to make sure it's working satisfactorily.

"Working satisfactorily" also means taking into account whether refresher training is needed, or updated training as processes change. In the case of TS this is expected among people whose duties are somehow related to the product - a janitor's training program requirements would be less detailed and strenuous than a machinist's requirements. Your organization needs a process to differentiate types of jobs this way.

Does this make sense?

Thanks again, Jennifer.
I have caught your point and your rational and experience are very helpful as well.
It is important to me this kind of suggestion in this forum.
Sometimes not all the organization possess this experience and way to address the right thing in ISO TS.
The case of training was only an example, however I understood your point.
It happened that there were needs to have "criteria" to define a "process" in QMS and not all have clear in mind how to proceed.:agree1:

The processes required by TS are obvious.
The key processes which shall be identified are according to your organization situation.
such as customer complain, engineering change, iternal communication, C&P actions, continuous improvement, APQP,PPAP,FMEA,SPC,MSA.....etc.

Do you indentify MSA, FMEA as processes of QMS? Are not they more quality tools o methods?
Is corrective /preventive actions a process? ISO TS does not mention "process" but " documented procedure"
