Customer initiated work transfer

Hi Everyone,

In our company, an OEM customer has transferred work from a Tier 1 supplier, which is also our sister company from another country, to us. We have already produced some parts that are currently in FG. Since the Tier 1 supplier has short-closed the Purchase Order (PO), we need to send these produced parts to the OEM customer.

To ensure that the parts are sent to the OEM customer without compromising the Quality Management System (QMS), as of now we don't have process for the customer initiated work transfer. I need your help!!! I want to know what and how to do it. I request you to provide the clarification for the same.

Transfer of work is based on making sure that there are no compromises when work is transferred. The transfer can be from in-house to outsourcing, from one outsource to another, and from an internal department to another.

The customer may have requested you to make the change, but it is up to you to determine how to ensure that quality is not affected from the transfer. What needs to be done will vary greatly from one organization to another. The biggest suggestion I can make is to ensure complete and full communication between locations. It may help to bring some personnel from the old location to the new location to provide insight for set-up and inspection.

Thank you for the reply Jim. I would like to add one more in it. Now the OEM customer gave us direct PO . And right now we have produced the part for one customer and I have to deliver the same part to OEM customer. How to link this traceability? My all internal documents is with other customer name. Whether can I use the same documents or how to approach this?
 
You work from the new purchase order. It would not hurt to reference the prior documentation with the new documentation. That would be things like a sales order, work order / traveler, and so on. Make sure the prior documents from the prior work from the other division are available for reference as needed.

Okay I will put it in different way. And sorry if i am not this clear in my previous query. Actually , We are supplying the part to our sister company(Name as X) consider it as a Part A. My company (Name as Y). We "Y" supplying the part A to "X", and "X" supplies the part to the Direct customer. Now, direct customer directly transferring work from "X" to "Y". In this case part no. remains same as A. Now, the part which is already produced for "X" I need to send it to direct customer. So, for this issue how to proceed further. Sorry for any inconvenience which occurred to you earlier.
Can you help with this please?
 
You are NOT doing work transfer, buddy. Your sister plant is. So, that’s THEIR problem, not yours.
Hi Sidney, Actually it is initiated by direct customer, customer wants to transfer the work from my sister plant to us. They provided direct PO to us, not by my sister plant. I hope I am clear!!!

If you are already building the part in your plant then there is no work transfer.
The parts which we produced have the route cards mentioning the customer name as our sister company. Now we want to deliver this part to our direct customer. So, how to link the traceability in the documentation. This is where we are having the bottle neck.
