Our "lots" are serialized for traceability. We have an outstanding traceability system. In most cases, if a customer can supply a serial number/s of affects lots, I can give them a list of serial numbers that should be considered "suspect". Most of the issues we cause will be contained to a shift, operator, or the offending process' date of manufacture. The problem typically arises that our customer does not have a good traceability system and has discarded the serial number once the material entered their production lines. I do not see how some of our tier 1 customers are not receiving audit findings on their traceability processes. There have been times that the only information that could be supplied was a VIN from a vehicle. Really?! Again, we are a tier 2.
