Defining performance metrics for DFMA implementation

Hello all,

I am looking to define performance metrics for DFMA implementation.

Specifically, what are specific metrics/K.P.I. which can be leveraged by Design Engineers to communicate that DFMA methodologies are being implemented during the design phase.

Would it always have to be after the fact? For example, evaluating the number of ECOs generated during the drawing approval stage due to manufacturability issues. I'm trying to think of performance measures that can be collected during the design period.

Appreciate any help on this.

I am a manufacturing engineer working in the design phase of part and assemblies. I use the Boothroyd and Dewhurst method, this will allow you to achieve a design efficiency percentage. Because every industry designs may have a different acceptable value, I would go back to winning designs do the design review then create a data base, this would allow you to have a base line to compare to. This tool is very helpful in predicting good designs efficiencies.

Thanks! Do you have a link to some of these formulas for design efficiency percentages?
