Hello all, and once again let me preface this post by thanking all of you for the support I get here that drives me to keep coming back and also recommend this site to others.
In my current life I and my cohorts build computer workstations, storage, and displays for the military. We have a few stable configurations that are contracted for delivery over a period of years.
But we have a great many more that fall under the heading of "Similar to but different than".
We build to order many small lots of custom configurations containing ever changing variants on motherboards, memory, video cards, software configurations, etc. Given the rate of change in the computer world the cards are forever being shuffled, and shortly after a configuration is completed it is obsolete and the next one is in the pipeline.
It's probably just brain strain,
but I'm unable to think of another industry that churns through it's product design cycles this rapidly as a default mode. Are there any other industries that have to deal with the consequences of this degree of design churn?
Much thanks to all you Covers, and enjoy your weekend
