I don't have an example I can share. However I will offer this advice. Since FMEAs get very complicated when you consider more than one failure mode at a time, you should do an
FMEA on the ECU and a separate FMEA on the Software. Now we all know that software problems can create unexpected hardware malfunctions, and hardware problems can create unexpected software malfunctions. So we know there will be multiple failure modes at any given time. So the next thing I recommend it to use a Fault Tree Analysis with the information from the two separate FMEAs to discover the critical risk you will need to address.
