It is more than possible, the more we (humans) think we know, the more we are proven wrong in what we think. The difficult part is opening our minds to the fact that we could be wrong and in 5 years opening our minds again.

Interesting article. I have seen pictures of the artwork in France but have never really thought about them.

Yes, I agree. If nothing else, at least we have learned that much. Besides, many animals are smarter than the all but too common picture of our prehistoric ancestors as grunting violent imbecils. I just don't believe in that picture: They had the very same mark 1.0 brains we are using today, and it was a lot better adapted to the requirements back then than it is today. The only difference is that we are using a stone age design in a high tech world...

Again, I agree: Our own minds are the toughest obstacle in that respect.

I have. I have never been there, but I have been watching those pictures over and over again, wondering about them. As Marc already knows, I am very interested in prehistory.

There is no single point in hominid evolution at which you can say that our ancestor's brains were equivalent to our own. Hominid populations didn't wake up one morning and start talking (or emitting meaningful grunts) to each other. If there is a difference, it's that natural selection has less to work with today; survival of populations isn't as dependent on adaptation to the environment as it was for our ancient ancestors.
