Difference between System Audit and Proces Audit

Hi,

You can perform process audit based on VDA 6.3, but you can not execute a system audit by VDA 6.3. So you need to do the system audit (QMS) according to IATF rules.

Process audit is based on manufacturing areas that are high risk, areas that have high scrap/ftq. QMS audits are the system type audits that can align with IATF clauses. Example, measurement traceability, external calibration, design inputs, problem solving, etc.

by using turtle audit scheme for process audit related to manufacturing -- the deference will be more clear ; the inputs & outputs of each manufacturing process ; the controls used with the referenced Control plan & relevant FMEA & CSR--etc -- all are virtual & generic for process audits

Yes, I actually have to use turtle diagrams for all my audit types according to my Quality Manual my organization has (including product audits). The only ones we don't do turtles for are the CQI Assessments.

Thank you so much for your contribution. But to clarify, yes any organization can decide to do a process audit based on VDA6.3, but it is not mandatory to audit the process as per VDA6.3 unless it is a CSR. The organization can decide the approach to be used if there is no CSR.
