Does anyone have an explaination of the differences between a quality system facilitator and a lead auditor? Currently my job title is the qms facilitator but I have recently been told that the new quality manager would like to "bump me up" to a lead auditor. Any views?

You'd first have to explain what a facilitator does, because it doesn't have a universally understood meaning. In fact, job titles often have different meanings in different companies. Although "lead auditor" suggests that there are several auditors and the lead is responsible for scheduling and coordinating their auditing activities, there could be other responsibilities assigned as management sees fit.
Our company's description of a QS Facilitator is someone who controls implementation and monitoring of the Quality System, and have the authority to change / implement system requirements as a team with the QA Manager.
The discussion so far makes it clear that only you can answer the question you asked at the beginning, other that the obvious: a facilitator facilitates and an auditor audits.
