Dear sirs,

Good day for every body,

Please clarify the differents in meanings of Top management, Management and organization mentioned in ISO 9001:2008 standard. I went through ISO 9000:2005, clause numbers 3.2.7, 3.2.6 and 3.3.1 and still need clarification.

Thanks

The simplest way to clarify definitions in ISO 9000 is to replace the referenced words that are already existent in other terminology within the document, such as "organization (3.3.1)". Using what Kees has posted as an example (which is straight from ISO 9000):

3.2.7
top management
person or group of people who directs and controls an organization (3.3.1) at the highest level

3.2.6
management
coordinated activities to direct and control an organization (3.3.1)

3.3.1
organization
group of people and facilities with an arrangement of responsibilities, authorities and relationships
We can replace the word "organization" as such, and now the expanded definitions would be as follows:

3.2.7
top management
person or group of people who directs and controls a group of people and facilities with an arrangement of responsibilities, authorities and relationships at the highest level

3.2.6
management
coordinated activities to direct and control a group of people and facilities with an arrangement of responsibilities, authorities and relationships

Perhaps even simpler, the organization is your company.

Top management are those the lead your company from the very top.

Management would include any managers (including top managers) within the company.
