Dimensional Results Requirements for PPAPs

Whats the purpose of Dimensional results?

PPAP says

"Provide evidence that dimensional verifications required by the design record and the contol plan have been completed and complies with requirements"

Does this mean that all dimensions on one product should be measured to see if it complies with the drawings?

Whether one part or multiple number of parts is at the discretion of the Customer.

Re: Meaning of Dimensional results

Whats the differnce between capability study and dimensional results? (except that the capability study are carried out on numerous parts, and only for critical dimensions)

Yes, all dimensions on one product will be measured and recorded. If your process provides 4 cavities (or parts per mould) then one from each cavity is to have a full layout.

This is quite different from capability studies that are required on certain dimensions. Here is where a little statistical training is required.

Is it enought to controll the dimensions of the finnished product or should all components also be controlled?

For example, our customer gets a drawing of the whole product, then we only measure those dimensions that are stated on the drawing?

In out case Im very sure that the unit will be outside tolerance of lots of dimensions, but as most of the dimensions do not effect the performance of the unit we just make the tolerances wider?

PPAP does not specify 'one Product' (or something else). Where as, it mentions - 'All questions about PPAP should be addressed to the authorized Customer representative'.
