Can someone give me a text book definition of a "discovery audit"?

I thought it was on par with a gap analysis - ie What have we got here?

i remember it from the original CQA exam...i took the first sitting, and that was the first i ever heard of it....then i later found it in a book..still looking....i obviously wasn't impressed..LOL
