I have been audited MANY times over the years. We keep meticulous records: when a gage is issued, to whom, and for what job. We have a lot of (for lack of a better word) obscure thread ring gages. We can show auditors reasonable proof that certain thread gages have not been issued or used and have been stored in a locked cabinet. If there is no record of usage,we extend the date of next calibration by 180 days. We have never been seriously questioned or second guessed by any auditor from any company/industry.
