underatnd custumer need
Reduce NC to custumer
Imporve over all business

TQS is too general

I find this kind of generic classification somewhat hard to understand.

TQS could be formal, published quality standard like ISO 9001 or its industry specific analogues.

TQS could be A defined management system (procedures, forms, etc) that sets up a system for reporting quality issues and dealing with them.

TQS could even be the design of processes to minimize quality.

so many definitions. most people seem to assume we are speaking about documentation and if so, I think we need conditions to your list.

SOME Documentation systems reduce NC
SOME Documentation systems is customer oriented
SOME Documentation systems improves business

therefore IMHO, the Major minus, is setting up an overly expansive, waste of paper, people, and time.

TQS of course sounds very much like TQM, which was a marketing tool for those striving to get businesses to care more about, and create investments in quality.
IF TQM was never very standardized, certainly TQS isn't. and its just so blasted hard to generalize about these things when the subject isn't well defined.

Suggest you look at Dr. Juran's Handbook on Total Quality, and Dr. A. Feigenbaugm TQM book
These will give you a total picture of what a quality systems should encompass. Hope this helps

Tqs..tqm

Actualy You are right I was more meanning TQM than TQS...If we assume that a TQM bring a TQS...

So For you does a compagny need a TQM to compete?

I would say there no realy YEs or no,,,in my point of vieu

A TQM have an influence on the overall Buss ..I split them in those point :
-Custumer
-Quality product
-Supplier
-Employee
-Global

For each of them I can see that a TQM can have a good and a bad influence,,,,

Take the Custumer side for 1st exemple :

-------The good points.

-A tQM can help to get a certification ISO, a well done one. That can help to get more custumer, or to stay in Buss (TS16949)

-The custumer will get less NC
-We will understandd better custumer needs,
-reduce his complaint and deal better with them as well
-increase the cust satisfaction
-Build a Win WIn realtion with the custumer, Cust can help in produc t developnemnt
ETc....

------As bad point : If a compagny go for a TQM what will be the disavantage for it ?

-They can get an ISO but they can get it the wrong way....just get the "stample" cetificate without doing realy anything...like fake gold..

-No short term return on investment
I-f a compagny is in bad condition to much transparencie can afraid the custumer...DIC data base etc...

-If we reach a good level of qulity we can miss a range of custumer..(Buss Strategie)

well that some idea for the custumer point,,,

I still don't realy see clearly if a compagny (international) realy need a TQM nodays to compete (globaly)...

Would you advice to all compagny to get a TQM...?
