Our supplier quality manual states that all suppliers of critical components and/or processes be supplied to us by ISO Certified or equivalent/compliant suppliers. Many of our supliers meet those requirements. One of the machining suppliers whom our purhcasing department is looking at is not ISO certified nor compliant. I spoke with the machining center's QM and he said they are a D1-9000 Boeing Certified supplier.
I do not know the Boeing standard so I went to the website to look for it and I found D1-9000-1 AQS tools but not D1-9000. I did find out that in 2001 Boeing swithced over from D1-9000 to AS9100 even though some of the standard refers to D1-9000. If this is the case and the machining supplier QMS is based on D1-9000 does it match the elements of the ISO 9001:2000 standard or are there some gaps? (They mailed me a copy of there QMS which i will review and compare to the ISO standard).
*Does anyone have a copy of D1-9000 or know where I can get one?
*Is D1-9000 compliant with the ISO 9001 or AS9100 standard?
*Are there some other areas of the supplier's QMS I need to look into?
