Hello friends,
We are attempting to gather all required items to be certified by AISC(American Institute of Steel Construction) as a certified steel building fabricator, and I ran across this requirement in the FAQ's, where someone had asked if even the weld fillet gages needed to be certified , here is the quote - "1.2.10.3. Do fillet weld gages used for final inspection require calibration traceability to a national standard?
Yes. Fillet weld gages are one example of equipment used to demonstrate final acceptance of welds. Only the gages used by personnel performing final inspection need to demonstrate traceability to a national standard."
I have not seen these ever to have been certified. Can anyone shed some light on where I could obtain a "certified welding gage"? They are really just a marking on a steel plate, I do not see how they could be adjusted, only corrected for.
