Interesting Read Does Lean hold the key to success? Is Lean the ideal vehicle for moving forward?

OK, last try, and then I will need to cease this non-value-added, un-Lean use of my time. The question at hand isn't about "the reality of what Lean is," it is about whether "Lean" is the key to success, the way forward. The answer to that question hinges entirely on what is actually being implemented as "Lean," not on "the true thing."

Except for the Judo belts, this thing people call "Lean SS" didn?t bring anything new!
a provocative - and slightly demeaning - statement that has been debated here in many threads...would you elaborate on how your position addresses the OP's question or provides actionable information to the OP?

Lean is a tough culture and it is being transformed . For manufacturing companies, it is a good way to move forward providing that you have a good base. It works, as I have experienced it. However, many companies are piece/mealing it and seem to never get the full benefit.

Agreed. Can be the case for any company, not only manufacturing. Continuous improvement is continuous improvement... what tools are used is sometimes irrelevant though the Lean toolset tailored for each enterprise and culture in my experience addresses most needs.

Lean has a success rate of 3-5%. It is the unfair competitive advantage therefor. Also why there is long debates about the relevance... more troublesome stories that good. Usually means your hanging around the wrong crowed. :D
