Does plant personnel need to be re-trained to the new ISO 9001:2008 revision??

Good point you make Andy, I agree, the new revision of the ISO 9001- 2008 standard should be brought over for discussion at a Management Review this implies communication, awareness, and other points that will show an auditor that our plant's QMS is in tune with "changes that affect the QMS..." Of course there is reference to many docs throughout our plant referencing ISO 9001-2000 we will remove remove and update and inform employees the reason for the changes. Comment?

No, don't waste your time. :nope: Don't worry about standards.

However, are all your folks competent? Are they able to apply skills and knowledge so that they can be safe, effective and effcient?

Management should worry about that.;)

Remove the reference to ISO 9001:2008 and instead reference it as what? QMS? or standard? or ISO standard. Comment.

Can you give some examples of where you reference ISO 9001?

There's no requirement that you reference the standard at all. I don't think I would refer to ISO 9001 except in the quality manual and maybe the internal audit procedure.

What potential return will you expect to get from the thousands of dollars of man-hours you'll be investing in the training of information about something new that really isn't?

If you want to spend my money you better be prepared to show me what I'll get out of it.
