Re: Resin expiry date

In its uncured state - typically yes. Refer to the resin labelling to find out.

Contact the resin manufacturer. They know or should know the particulars on shelf life for each of their products.

It definitely depends on the type of resin you are using.

Being in the medical plastics industry, some resins are only "good" for 2 years, while others have no expiration.

As previously mentioned, I would contain the supplier to review their shelf-life policy.

Why some type resin expired and some not? Is it due to packaging method? What are the characteristic we can see on the expired resin? Does the resin still can be mold? Any cosmetic or reliability defect?

It depends of the chemical composition of your resin, which may be prone to degradation or may be stable over time.

Would you be able to disclose the name (maybe even datasheet) of your concerned resin? This would make it a lot easier to provide specific advise.

Googling for the resin leads you to this page:

http://worldaccount.basf.com/wa/NAFTA~en_US/Catalog/ePlastics_NA/pi/BASF/Brand/ultradur

which allows you to download the MSDS for your resin. Refer to section7, Handling and Storage saying:

Storage
General advice:
Keep container tightly closed. Avoid deposition of dust. Protect against moisture.
Storage stability:
Protect against moisture.

Concludingly, your resin should only be moisture-sensitive. You may want to re-confirm this by directly contacting BASF.
