We are implementing ISO14001 system. One manufacturing process theoretically will produce waste water with tiny amount of HCN.
By law we need to asked qualified lab to test the waste water at least once per year, and we did it.
We also bought an equipment to test the waste water for the same material. The 3rd party auditor said the operator need to be trained, and the equipment need to be calibrated.
Training is not a problem, but the operator claims the equipment can’t be calibrated.
Do you think the equipment still need to be calibrated, since we have already asked qualified lab to test the same characteristic?

The addition of chlorine in a high pH solution is a common method of cyanide removal from waste water. So, pH probes will need, at a minimum, periodic calibration and maintenence (cleaning) as per manufacturers recommendations.
