I've heard that this and "Who's the Customer Rep"? (for ISO/TS companies) is a question asked by some registrar auditors.

Has it happened to you during audits?

:confused: There's got be a catch here. The question is obviously a sound one. Amongst many other things to check if contractual requirements are being satisfied.

Dunno Andy, it's not one of my questions.:confused: Maybe the auditor wanted to find out if anyone knew who the focal point for system issues might be.

Except for OHS, MR's are basically the cheerleader and manager for the system. (Of course there is more to it than that)

:mad: maybe the registrars are confused of who realy the MR is because the company did not assign one....:biglaugh:

No this question has never been asked during a Third Party Audit, since I was usually the Guide (MR) with the Third Party Registrar auditor.

Andy, first are you sure you mean "Customer Representative or MR?"

If you mean "Customer Representative" then a possible reason is that the Auditor wants to validate one or all of the following: Customer Satisfaction and Communication.

If you mean the MR then one possible reason is that the MR is not specifically identified in the QMS or somewhere else, and the other is again Communication within the organization.

Yup, we've been asked...at both the management level and out on the floor. I presume it was a way to ensure that I wasn't stuck up in an ivory tower and was actually out there communicating the importance of meeting customer requirements to all employees.

We've been asked this, as well, on both the ISO 9001 and 14001 audits. Thankfully, everyone was able to answer that I was the MR for 9001. But we received some darn interesting answers when it came to 14001 (and no, it's not me).

Same here. A lot of the guys didn't know who the Management Rep was - but they could tell you who the ISO chick was.:tg: So I started asking the same question during internal audits so they'd be familiar with the term MR.

Our auditor asks the question, no so much anymore unless he knows of a new employee - generally, just as verification that the information is communicated - that associates know who the "go to" person is for quality system concerns/issues etc.

I'm pretty new (1.5 years) at this company, and have not heard of our auditor asking that question. Could've happened before I came onboard, though.

Our auditor asked this question during the first two audits then stopped. Same for the Quality Policy.

He wanted to make sure that people on the floor knew who the "Go to" person was.
