Done... OHSAS 18001 registration

I just got word from the auditor: Our actions following the OHSAS 18001 registration audit have been approved. Once we recieve the certificate, our registrations will cover ISO 9001, 14001, 50001, and now also OHSAS 18001.

I just told everyone to enjoy the warm and fuzzy feeling this week... :D ...and then get cracking with the real job: To uphold and improve the integrated system... :yes:

I was hoping to be done before I'm due for some sick leave after getting my foot overhauled, and made it with two weeks to spare: That particular project will begin by the end of the month. :D

For organizations such as yours, the upcoming universal adoption of the High Level Structure for the future versions of ISO Management System Standards, adding the likely migration of OHSAS 18001 as an ISO Standard in the next 3-5 years, should make your job a little easier for the next decade.

PS Does Sweden provide tax incentives for organizations implementing an Energy Management System? What about incentives for EnMS certification? Can you share the driver behind ISO 50001 certification for your organization?

Yes indeed. Not much, but it still adds up to a decent amount if your operation is energy intensive, and we are...

There is the very slight tax reduction, of course, but the real incentive was to make sure we did it right, and the resulting reduced use of energy: All in all, it became blindingly clear that it was well worth the effort to replace some older equipment with new and best available technology. The end result speaks for itself: Reduced negative environmental impact, as well as some quality and safety issues removed. :agree1: It soon becomes obvious that all those factors are connected and that there is money to be saved.

Well done Claes - it is always good to get projects done in the expected time frames. Good to hear that you have got some real benefits from the projects too, as we know, many just get a piece of paper for doing it :) Good luck with the foot!

Quite right. Thankfully, just going through the motions is not an option here. We have to show not only the shalls, but also a business case. Speaking of which: We have had a H&S system for years, but did not bother going for registration. However, it is fast becoming a de facto requirement from our customers, so...

I expect no problems there, but of course I will take note of the proceedings and compare it to the proper clauses in the proper standards... :D
