I am facing a problem to develope a drift gauge which is going to use for a collar ID dia. 5.235 +.004/-.000 and dia.3.304 +.002/-.000(In collar Id Two step dia.) for inspection.
1. The length of the 5.235 dia. hole is 165.21" and the step dia. 3.304 hole is 2.20".
2. Material of the collar is stainless steel.
As per Taylor's principle, length of gauge should be same with hole length. If I take the length (165.21+2.20) the gauge should be unresonably heavy.
Please help me to find a good conclusion for the length and the required tolerence for the gauge dia.
Thanks
