Dupont Delrin 100P Material Certification Documentation Requirements

Our supplier makes a plastic part using Dupont Delrin 100P. The chemical sheet they supplied is the Product information sheet provided from Dupont. The product Information sheet verifies it as Delrin 100P and says that the data falls with-in normal range of the product properties. It also gives many mechanicle properities.

My question is, does this pass as a material certification?
Should I require my supplier to provide outside testing to verify?

It says right on it that "Product certification obtained from an unauthorized sources is considered counterfit." So would there be any value to send it to an outside lab if a customer requested such a test??

Because my customer is not liking this product information sheet.

Re: Dupont Delrin 100P material certification

The PPAP manual (4th Edition) explicitly states that the supplier is responsible for material testing. The PPAP requirement is for material test reports, not material certifications. If this is an issue with your customer, you should ask your supplier for legitimate test data.

Does the sheet reference the manufacturing batch? Or is it "sales material?"

If it references the manufactuirng batch, then I would consider it a certification and proceed from there. Unless you have reason to believe it is not accurate, having it "tested" only adds extra expense. Good luck.

I think I know what the OP is referring to--it's a DuPont sheet that has "typical" test results, and is more of a standard data sheet than a test report. Most customers also require test data to be no more than 12 months old, which is another factor.
