Dear All, Nice to meet you.

I am novice in airworthiness certification and I have a question to prepare my interviews with an aerospace company.

I know that if you want to introduce a new component design in a plane for passenger transportation, a company must fill an APDOA specific to the organisation and an ETSO specific to the product and a POA specific to the production. In that case, the process seems to be clear to me.

But if the Company has already a DOA . What is the process to introduce a new component design in the plane ?

Moreover, I know there is some issues with minor or major changes but the limit is not very clear to me.

Dear experts, I am sorry to bother you with questions like that but It would be great If I could get the big picture before my interviews.

Best Regards,

Patric

Dear All,

Time is running. I passed first round with HR and I really need to know the process before discussing with the field employees. My research on the easa website does not help at all.

Patric,

The DOA approval allow you to make compliance verification statements against the relevant certification basis adopted for the new design. The design of the component (assuming non-ETSO article) is controlled by the DOA through a suitable DDP and any ICD's and a Declaration of Compliance can be made against the design and how it meets the certification basis. There still needs to be a POA/DOA agreement set up per standard Part21 procedures.

So the two issues are the conformity of the design and the installation onto the aircraft.

Major / Minor classification is per criteria of 21A.91.

Hope this makes sense and helps?
