Elsmar Cove Sparklers - A Free Wellness and Healthy Lifestyle Resource

I recently was told about a free website promoting a healthy lifestyle including areas such as :

• Nutrition
• Exercise
• Wellness
• Weight Loss

I finally bit the bullet and joined up today. Recognizing that we can start "teams" or "organizations" in the site, I created the Elsmar Cove Sparklers.

One fellow Cove member has signed up and a few more have been issued invites. I must admit that I'm impressed with SparkPeople's site and resources for a healthier lifestyle. Last night, I tried out one of their recipes - Tilapia with fresh vegetables, all poached in the oven. Yummy! And it was perfect after my 5km walk/jog/tug-fest-with-the-dog. Prepped it, tossed it in the oven and let it cook while I hit the shower.

They even have special groups for gardeners (or those of us who pretend to be), book worms, dog lovers, people with allergies and even a special guys-only club (maybe I should join to meet that special someone? ).

Well, a good thing didn't last. My company has blocked me out from signing on during work hours. I was signed on during my 1 hour lunch too! That just s*#%s!

I am having trouble configuring my goals, foods, etc. anyway. There isn't anything in the lists that I lke to eat. I'd rather not eat. I can add but I haven't a clue as to the calories, etc. Wouldn't be fair.

I'll see about working on it at home.

UpDATE: Looks like our "Web Sense" blocker/tracker blocked me out for no reason. I was able to get back in.

In the nutrition section, you can "hide" the meal plans and then add what you actually ate. From there, "Add a Food", you can enter a key word and say how much you ate. Or, if your food isn't in the list, you can customize your food and enter in the nutritional information. My Activia yogurt, for example, isn't in the list, so I've made it in my own.
