I stand by my opinion that if you keep the review but drop the mention of timeframe..i.e. delete annual, then you can have the best of both worlds. The reviews carry on as part of the QMS but if they run a month late it may not be considered an NC by the external auditor. Of course it is something the business should look at and be aware of. Possibly raised as an RC or SFI by an internal system audit.
Regardless of what people say reviews will remain a constant part of company organisation as it is so ingrained in business. It may not be considered effective by all but if both parties approach it with the same gusto it can be a productive element to business -(i know for my review next week i have a list of ideas how i can improve, and what i would like to do more of - i also have inside knowledge that my boss has made the same sort of preparations). It does outline the future steps of the individual, and quite possibly of the Company and it's QMS (if you are involved with that dept.)
