Need some input. The above standards relate to applications of quality systems with regards to ATEX approval (hazardous locations). Almost identical to ISO 9001 but a few more requirments.Fighting back and forth with 3rd party auditor of section 7.4.1.c) Auditors state that we have to re-evaluate any supplier we have not used in over 12 months on a yearly basis?:confused:
We also have to review any current supplier on a yearly basis.
Anybody else dealt with this?
Why would a company be require to completely re-evaluate a supplier you are not using? What does that have to do with the quality of a component? and who the h*ll are they to tell my company what supplier we can and can not use as long as they meet the requiremetns of our company and the directive?

Sorry for getting to the party a bit late.. that darn work stuff again.

There could be a number of reasons for the auditor's findings. If your Quality System says you'll re-qualify each supplier every year then you have painted yourself into a corner.

But you're right, if you're no longer using the supplier, it would just be wasted effort to re-qualify them.

Maybe you have them on an approved supplier list and whatever qualification you used is no longer valid? Presuming they are on an approved supplier list, maybe take them off?

Without knowing more details of the finding and the argument, a bit hard to know what to say that could help.
