Re: Definition for Engineering Change
Did a quick search in this forum for a definition of Engineering Change and could not find any... does anyone have one, also a definition for document change.
thx Nigel
I don't have an official document that I can quote from but a quick answer to your question would be:
Engineering Change - any change to the process or product. This would include any documents such as work instructions, specs, drawings. It would also include materials used in the process. These changes should be made procedurally and would normally include the customer's approval.
Document Changes - for the engineering changes is included above. For your internal document system, changes would depend on the control needed as defined by your system. Normally any change other than grammatical or spelling would require a revision following your procedures.
Many customers require specific procedures for changes involving their product or process. It is always best to include the customer in any planned engineering changes.
I hope this helps.
