Ensuring Tooling Use Tracking and Traceability

We have a point of use tooling system that is providing our processes many tools. The problem: does anyone have a good system of keeping track of what tool is used for each job. The availability to use selected tools for many jobs in the area is the challenge. Documentation on the manufacturing floor needs to be easy to use and accurate.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, the simpler the better.
We are AS9100 C and know this gap will eventually be a problem please help.

I couldn't understand your problem situation clearly. What is your Manufacturing process and what kind of tools are those? Don't you have a sort of tool room or a dedicated team managing tool inventory, issue, receipt, etc?
