Enterprise Architecture for QMS Conceptualization

Has anyone applied Enterprise Architecture frameworks to documenting their organisation, specifically for QMS's?

Is it common practice to model the enterprise and the various levels within the enterprise amongst large aerospace companies?

I have recently been looking at ARIS and the ArchiMate modeling methods, seems to me that these will help greatly with both external and internal audits.

I've never heard of ARIS or ArchiMate, so I found this:

It does seem like it could be helpful with audits, especially the high-level hierarchical view and the heatmap. Interesting ideas.

From my limited experience playing around with Archi (A nice open-source archimate software), I believe it can be used as a procedure and document management system as well. My initial thoughts are to used ArchiMate to map the high-level organisation workings and expand on these down to a procedure level whereby the relevant QMS documentation can be linked for easy of use/access.

If you feel comfortable with it then I will say "go for it" Do not approach this with the intend to just satisfy ISO or an ISO auditor. The important element here is that if you (your business) determines that need for documentation it is accessible and retrievable in manner that it makes sense to you not an ISO auditor.
