European Laboratories which can do IEC/EN 60601-2-50 Testing? (Close to Turkey)

Hi Experts,

Do you know any labs performing IEC/EN 60601-2-50 Testing in Europe? (or any location which is close as europe to Turkey)

Assuming you want a lab operating as part of the IECEE CB scheme the lsit of members is here:-

As you mention Turkey you could try TSE Testing Center Electrical Laboratory in Ankara. But 60601-2-50 is not shown on their scope.

One that I found is - VDE Pr?f- und Zertifizierungsinstitut GmbH - in Main, Germany.

This link should take you to their "scope" (that is a list of standards for which they are accredited). Click the "MED" tab for medical standards.

To search for others click on the national link in the members list, then on one of the labs shown. From there click on the (small) "Scope" link at the top. Then the "MED" tab. For VDE that shows the list of the 134 standards that they have listed.

We have been looking at the standard in Japan and found it technically difficult to do as a laboratory, because you need to be able to measure the light's spectral response outside of the treatment region, with incredibly small limits applied (some limits end up being in the nW/cm2 region, if I remember correctly).

In general, even if a lab is "qualified" under the CB for a particular standard, they usually lean on the manufacturer to provide them test data for such kind of unusual tests. So even even if you find a lab, double check if they can really do the tests or if they rely on manufacturer data.

Hi janberc,

Just curious to ask if your infant phototherapy (PT) equipment is LED type radiation source. If yes, is the PT equipment equipped with lamp time counter which required by clause 201.15.4.4.101?
