Hi Covers,

Recently I came accross some certificate from the suppliers issued by some local CB which lasted for more than 9 years.

Now the question, is this valid and do you ever come accross with it?

How do you deal with it?

thanks.....

Re: Have you ever come accross on certificate of ISO 9001 more than 3 years validatio

Under ANAB, UKAS, SCC, and other IAF AB's it is no longer valid if I'm correct. Certs are only good for 3 years max and then they have to be renewed.

The cert may be under a different accreditation body or may be as bogus as a US $3 bill.

I did not come across such certificate, which has a life of more then 3 years. It all depends upon CB and also on the accreditation body. However I believe ISO allow only 3 year certificates

When the company I work for was certified by BSi our certificate had no expiry date on the certificate, it did have a "latest issue" date from which you could apply the 3 year rule I suppose.

Our new DNV certificate does have an expiry date.

Maybe it is the supplier who is still using the old certificate (since it may not have an expiry date) without the knowledge of the CB and without the Survillance or Periodic Audits (that is using and showing an actually expired certification). I think you must check with the CB directly..... Just an opinion.

That is something I have not seen. Interesting. Please let us know what you find out.

Yes, I recognize that. I seem to remember that it also stated a phone no. to call if you wanted to have it's validity verified.

This actually caused me a great deal of trouble: A number of customers, unaware of this practice kept questioning it rather strongly. Thus, I had to do a lot of explaining all the time, so I was less than happy with it.

Here are the scans of the old certificate, most of our customers don't have a clue about the certification process so we probably could have written ISO 9001 certified on the back of a fag packet and got away with it:biglaugh:

Our current BSI ISO 9001 certificate was reissued in April 2006 and carries a statement "This certificate does not expire". It then gives a web address where the certificate can be validated. Same for our ISO 14001 certificate issued in May 2006.
The TS 16949 certificate has a 2009 expiry date (3 year lifespan).

Hello Friends,

Please refer to the attachment. (I believe that this is "fair use.")

Clause 8.2.3 c) states: "the expiry date or recertification due date consistent with the recertification cycle."

Comments?

Stijloor.
