Welcome to the Cove, jlw107
Now, in a larger organization, you probably will need something much more formal. One of my clients has several hundred folks. They need a more formal process. But, the mom and pop shop with 25 employees, will not need anything in writing to show approval. Well, how do you know the document was approved? “Because I am the only one who creates documents, and if I created it, I probably approved it as well.”
I get quite upset when I hear folks say "all evidence must be in writing". Do I need a piece of paper stating: “I have read, received and understand the quality policy, as indicated by my signature below.” to show evidence of 5.3 d)? I think not. But how do you know a document was approved? Well, one of two things. First, if I had the approval authority for a document, and what showed up on the master list was not approved by me, don’t ya think I would raise the issue? (If I didn’t we have far more serious issues). So, if I don’t raise an issue, then the document is probably okay with me.
Don’t go nuts!
